Rodeos, football and online shopping

There are almost two weeks left in the Merry Thanksgivoween holiday season. I’ve managed to avoid the craziness of holiday shopping so far, opting to do most shopping online. However, my mother is coming into town soon, so we may get caught up in the foolishness before the season ends after all.

The past week has been busy, but not unbearable. At work, I’m trying to cut back from taking on unnecessary “good ideas,” and focus on what my office needs to do as our squadron prepares to hit the road. I had fun joining other Thunderbirds officers at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in downtown Vegas. Later in the week, we took our spouses out for the evening, taking part in a mystery/dinner theater. It was my first time doing such a thing … I had fun, but am not sure I’d do it again.

The Thunderbirds were part of the opening ceremonies at the Las Vegas National Finals Rodeo. (I'm on the left.)

And, a couple of us are preparing to travel to Pasedena to support a flyover at the Tournament of Roses Parade.

At home, Taj is still busy with school, piano practice and flag football. His team made it all the way to the “Superbowl,” but were beaten by a rival elementary school. He was pretty disappointed … He likes football and worked hard to do well all season. It’s hard to console a child when they lose at something they feel like they should’ve won. I’m sure it will just make him practice harder next year.

I don’t normally make New Year resolutions, but I may spend the last few days of Merry Thanksgivoween coming up with something I can focus on in 2014.
