Bagram Air Field,
Afghanistan —
As I was leaving the C-17 Globemaster that dropped us off in the ‘stan, I stopped to take this picture.
What you can’t see in the picture is the immense amount of dust, sand and dirt that is flying through the air.

I’ve trained for it at McGuire, and I trained some more at wonderful *note the sarcasm* Camp Atterbury. So, now, this is it. I’m finally in the ‘stan … Just hopped off of the plane earlier yesterday. (Yes, I brought my pillow.)

I haven’t been here long enough to judge the place (but I’m going to anyway.) My first impression is that the place is very hot, very dusty, and very serious.

I won’t write today as I’ve got a lot to do to get settled in. But stay tuned … I’ll keep you posted every chance I get.
