Breathin’ it all in

Ali Al-Saleem, Kuwait -- I don’t really eat McDonald’s much, but no one can deny that Mickey-D’s represents Americana. It’s neat to see the McDonald’s sign in different languages. I took this pic today on the base. (See Ronald in the bottom corner?)

I took this pic in Kuwait while searching for something to eat.

Tonight I find myself stuck in Kuwait at the base used by most folks going in and out of Iraq (Ali Al-Saleem.) I’m just passing through, trying to catch a flight back to Bagram.

Last night we weren’t able to go, so I get to spend another day here. I’m not complaining … every day here is a day I don’t spend outside the wire. Besides, this base has all the comforts a FOBbit could want. Fast food and internet … SCORE!

The only down side is the dust … its EVERYWHERE. I can feel it inside my nasal cavity as I breath. I can see it collect on my computer as I sit outside, typing.

The USO and MWR (morale, welfare, and recreation) offices do a great job of keeping us occupied, playing movies and letting us make phone calls and keeping rooms open for reading, gaming or working out. (Guess which one I’ve been doing the most!)

I’ll post again once I get to Bagram.
