Waariya! What’s up with Darrick Lee?

If you’re actually reading this, then you’re either:

A:   Googling the term “Derrek Lee,” looking for the Major League Baseball star;

B:    Really, REALLY bored, or,

C:    Someone interested in learning about my military experiences.

If you fall under category “a,” you should know that the athlete you’re looking for spells his name “D-E-r-r-E-k,” while I use an “a” and an “i” instead. You’re welcomed to stay, but you would probably have better luck with ESPN or Wikipedia. (But, before you go, consider clicking around this website for a while ... I’m not a pro baseball player, so I don’t get paid NEARLY as much as him, but I figure since we both won the same amount of World Series games, I’ve got the advantage.)

If you fall under category “b”, you’re in luck. My ramblings have a way of making time go by fast. Give it a try. If you need help going to sleep, try reading some of the Darrick-related articles on the media / links page. For the Leathernecks out there, you might like the Semper Fi pics page.

If you fall under category “c,” please visit this website often to learn more about what’s going on with our military family. I’m currently serving on a deployment to the Southern Philippines. See pictures of Zamboanga and the surrounding areas here. If more interested in Afghanistan, check out the mil-blog archives and visit the Afghanistan pics link to read stories and see images from my deployment there. Or, read about our life in Japan & the Philippines here.

Anyway,

“Waariya” means “hey” in Somali. (At least that’s what my wife tells me.) This website is really just me sayin’ “hey” to the world. If I’m lucky, the world will say “hey” back. Waariya!

Darrick
